Author and Speaker Jennifer Slattery will be at the Town Crier Bookstore in Emporia, KS on April 3rd. Children's author Lisa Newkirk will join her. Come and meet both authors, get autographed copies of their books and find out more about what led them to write the books they have written. To find out more, visit the Town Crier's website.
Myth Slayers Ministries will be at the Cincinnati Homeschool Convention from April 8-10th and at the Midwest Parent Educators Homeschool Conference in Kansas City, MO on April 16-17.
If you would like to schedule an event, contact us at contactus@mythslayers.com. We come to you. (House visits are also acceptable.) However, if you lack a facility to host an event in, we will find one for you.
Event options:
1) Creative writing (May also include an art option upon request.) This includes plot and character development, setting and other basic tools of the trade.
2) Flood geology and the Grand Canyon: Cost: $2 p/student and includes materials necessary for making a Grand Canyon "flap book" that will help students share what they learn with others and review the information presented. This includes a Power Point presentation.
3) Mesopotamia revealed (This is our most popular event. For this event, author Jennifer Slattery dresses up as one of the characters from her book, Journey to the Ice and performs an interactive dramatical piece where students are encouraged to help her grind grain for her upcoming journey using an authentic neolithic mortar and pestle. Students also learn how to make simple cuneiform in clay that is taken home and are then invited to join "Siseral" in a simple "Mesopotamian meal". The event is concluded with a visually appealing Power Point demonstrating that discusses the historical aspects of the Tower of Babel and Neanderthal Man. Cost: $3 p/student

4) Animal evolution: Is it possible? This fun, hands-on exploration of natural selection and genetic mutations helps students see the mathematical improbability of evolution and thoroughly discusses the assumptions made with an emphasis on biblical interpretation of all data. A visually appealing Power Point presentation is included. Cost: $2 p/student.
All programs are adapted to the size and age level of the group. These events have been performed at churches, youth groups, Sunday school classes, neighborhood Bible studies, local bookstores and homeschool coops.
